On July 22, 1961, Keith Douglas Sweat entered this world in the vibrant city of Harlem, New York to Juanita Thompson, a hairdresser and Charles Sweat, a factory worker. After the death of Charles Sweat in 1973, Juanta shouldered the responsibility of raising her five children as a single mother.
While attending City College, Sweat shared the financial responsibility with his mother by joining Macy’s as a night stock boy and playing with a band called Jamilah during weekends. Furthermore, he also served in the mail room at the brokerage firm Paine Webber, and later paved his way as a brokerage assistant at the New York Stock Exchange within just four years. In 1992, Keith Sweat tied the knot with Lisa Wu, star of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Couple got separated after ten years of their marriage in 2002 after a divorce.
